So... uh... what are those things near Mario's feet, exactly?

The number of "Character launches an attack from the center of that stadium" screenshots has been increased by 1. Seriously, there seem to be a lot of these.

June 26th Screenshot

(Wii U Version)

Well, aside from the people who see this image and somehow jump to the conclusion that Gyroid became a playable character, most people think that this screenshot isn't too revealing.

It looks like they'll be basing this version of Smashville off of Animal Crossing: City Folk rather than Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Or are there two Animal Crossing stages?

June 25th Screenshot

(Wii U Version)

Yeah, I completely forgot to check the Smash Bros. Website this morning and post the image that was there.

I'm such a naughty Sandslash!

Ah well. I did remember it just now, so rest easy.

And that command is mostly directed at myself, actually. I know my OCD would bug me forever if I ever actually did miss a day.

June 24th Screenshot

(Wii U Version)

Today's screenshot shows the Villager in Smashville.

I figure that this is just an advertisement for the new game, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, considering that this screenshot features an Animal Crossing character on an Animal Crossing stage.

Seems that Nintendo is promoting two games at once, eh?

Now, if we didn't already have confirmation that tripping isn't returning, I'd speculate that this is what the Villager is doing, and I would be raging about how dumb of a move it was to bring it back.

But since we know that this can't be the case, and it's just the Villager using his plant attack animation, I'll rest easy.

Sakurai interviewed by Kotaku!

Another Interview with Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has popped up, available here.

What we learn from the interview that we did not know before (with my comments in parentheses):

1) The 3DS and the Wii U version will have the same characters. (This was assumed beforehand, because we knew that the number of characters was the same.)
2) There will be very few third-party characters. (I'm guessing 2-3, including Mega Man.)
3) The Wii U and the 3DS version will not be able to do multiplayer with each other. (Not surprising, since the stages are different, so there would be nowhere to fight.)
4) The 3DS has a character customizer. (HELLO! You sure got my attention.)
5) Characters that are created on the 3DS version can be transferred to the Wii U version. (Assumed, since we do know that there would be some interaction between the two.)
6) This game will not be balanced for the tournament scene. Tiers will exist. Though it will be balanced for the casual gamer. (Not at all surprising, given Smash Bros.'s history with stuff like this.)
7) Kirby is probably gonna be low on the tier list, as Sakurai does not wish to appear biased towards his own characters. (Basically already known if you know how Sakurai thinks.)

Regarding tiers, I know that there is a lot of controversy over the existence of tiers. I should inform you that I do believe that they exist.

Looking at the returning characters from Brawl that we know are going to be in the new games, from highest to lowest tier in Brawl:

Pikachu
Fox
Pit
Kirby
Donkey Kong
Mario
Samus
Bowser
Link

Given the history of the Smash Bros. history when it comes to tiers, Sakurai seems to definitely overdo the balancing. That is, a high-tier character in one game will be pulled EXTREMELY low in the next, and vice versa for low-tier characters. If this remains true, I fully expect The bottom four to be pulled up and the top three to be pushed down, given how far apart they are on the tier list.

But all this is speculation. You cannot make a tier list unless you have in-depth knowledge of the game after playing it for several months. And no one has played the upcoming Smash Bros. game yet. Because it does not yet exist.

Nothing new, but given the rarity of 3DS screenshots, this is certainly a welcome sight.

Sorry for posting this a bit later than I usually do.

Regardless, here's the screenshot for today!

Edit: Whoops. Forgot to specify. This is the Wii U Version. I have added a caption accordingly.

Kinda seems strange that Pit is running while not standing on a platform. Shouldn't he be using his wings to fly?

It does bring up that question. Unfortunately, we don't seem to get any answers to that.

Today's screenshot was definitely the most humorous one yet. Unfortunately, it's not very informative.

Sakurai Interviewed by Polygon!

In a recent interview, Masahiro Sakurai talked about Smash Bros. It doesn't reveal much, but it does reveal two points, both of them negative.

Firstly, that some characters from Brawl will NOT be returning.

Secondly, that we won't be getting a Dojo this time around. It looks like we'll just be getting screenshots without any sort of text to analyze. Darn it!

I have to say that I was REALLY, REALLY, REALLY looking forward to a Dojo, but I guess that's just not in the cards right now. Given the marketing success that the previous three Dojos had, I really hope that Nintendo eventually sees the error of their ways and corrects this. If not for this Smash game, then for the next.

And as for that first point, it does bring up a question. Who is likely to be removed? Well, here's my candidates for deletion, in no particular order:
  • Ness or Lucas - With Mother 2 (aka Earthbound) being put on Virtual Console, and releasing in Europe for the first time, it stands to reason that they are trying to bring back this series. Hopefully we'll get a localized Mother 3, or maybe even continue the series with Mother 4. Exactly how far they go with this will determine which of the two psychic boys is going to get removed from the roster, but I don't think that it's a guarantee that we'll keep both of them.
  • Jigglypuff - Back in Pokémon's first generation, Jigglypuff was a fairly popular character. With the sixth generation coming upon us in October, I don't expect Jigglypuff to make a comeback. She has been declining in popularity immensely since the days of the first Smash Bros. game back on N64, and to be honest, I was surprised that she even made it in Brawl.
  • Ganondorf - The latest Zelda game right now is Skyward Sword. Before that? Spirit Tracks. Before that? Phantom Hourglass. Before that? Twilight Princess. We literally have to go all the way back to 2006 to get to a game with Ganondorf in it. It's possible that newcomers to the Zelda series don't even know who he is. And with him being a slow sluggish version of Captain Falcon in Smash Bros, it's not much of a loss to replace him with a newer Zelda villain.
  • Falco or Wolf - Krystal was one of the most anticipated and requested characters in Brawl, and she didn't get in. I think it's a given that she'll appear in the new Smash game, after how much of a fanbase she has. Trouble is, Star Fox isn't that popular of a series to warrant four characters, so either Falco or Wolf will have to be cut to make room for her.
  • Ike - Marth is pretty much the face of Fire Emblem when it comes to the Smash Bros. world. Ike is a little bit expendable by comparison. I don't think that Ike will be cut in favor of a different Fire Emblem character (hopefully Hector, though Lyn is worth considering as well), but it is a possibility that I wouldn't dismiss.
  • Pokémon Trainer - The "switch out your Pokémon" gimmick was genius, and I fully expect Pokémon Trainer to return. However, I anticipate that it will be a new trainer, modelled after the one in Pokémon X and Y, the upcoming Pokémon games that everyone will know about. And he'll use evolutionary relatives of Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie, rather than Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. With the ability to customize your character already confirmed for X and Y, it makes alternate costumes a breeze for designing this character. That being said, the original Trainer will have to be cut to make room for the new one.
  • Lucario - Pokémon is all about replacements. In Generation 2, you had to give up the ability to use some of your Generation 1 favorites, in favor of more practical newer Pokémon. The same goes for each generation afterwards. This is why Mewtwo was ultimately replaced by Lucario in the transition from Melee to Brawl. As such, Lucario could be replaced himself by a new badass Generation 6 Pokémon. Another possibility is to bring back Mewtwo, since Mewtwo is confirmed to have a new form in Pokémon X and Y, he could easily become a popular character worthy of being the center of attention again.
  • Toon Link - With The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds featuring a younger version of Link that is explicitly NOT Toon Link, I don't see Toon Link making a return. At all. Though I wouldn't say that it's a complete loss. I think that the Link from A Link Between Worlds will appear. Whether they call him "Young Link" like they did with the Majora's Mask Link from Melee or give him a new name entirely though, I don't know. But I can guarantee that Toon Link, in his present form, will most likely be removed from the roster.
  • Snake - The third party characters are tricky cases. You can't have too many of them, or else it risks the game no longer being about Nintendo. It then becomes a general fighting game. Fair enough. We already have Mega Man. And we may have other newcomers. Snake and Sonic may not have any ROOM on the roster at all. Of course, Sonic is extremely marketable and is a favorite amongst casual fans. Snake, on the other hand, doesn't even have that going for him. Plus, there's always the chance that Konami (or Sega) won't allow Nintendo to use their characters. Unlikely, but possible.

June 17th Screenshot

(3DS Version)

Well, this is the first time that the daily image is for the 3DS version of the game.

It also confirms that Battlefield actually WILL be in both versions of the game, which is quite good, as it is the most balanced stage by far.

Finally, tomorrow will be the 1-week anniversary of these daily screenshots. If you recall the Japanese-only Dojo for Melee, they revealed one new character a week. Perhaps tomorrow we'll get a new character? Don't get your hopes up too high though. There's nothing really that supports this theory.

And even if we do get a new character, it'll probably be someone obvious like Yoshi or the like.

Once again, another new screenshot has been revealed. It doesn't exactly tell us anything though.

Sakurai tweets Concept Art! More characters confirmed! (Edit: Debunked.)

NOTE: The following has since been proven false. This post is only here for the sake of its history, nothing that it says is valid anymore.

According to IGN, the above image was tweeted by Sakurai, as concept art for the new Smash Bros. game.

I cannot locate the original tweet, and I pretty damn well searched his timeline, so I can't confirm this.

However, if this is true, then while it isn't definitive proof of any character confirmation, it's pretty damn close.

With this, the following characters are confirmed:

Luigi
Marth
Meta Knight
Zero Suit Samus
Wario
Mr. Game & Watch

Furthermore, there are also a number of items in this artwork: Heart Container, Warp Star, Mr. Saturn, and Sandbag. Looks like the info keeps on pouring in! Let's hope it never stops!

These have now been added to the "Confirmed Information" page.

And now they have been removed. It turns out that the tweet in question was several months ago, and cannot be taken as proof of anything.

Tripping is GONE!!!!!!! (And no DLC.)

In an IGN interview, Sakurai said that the new Smash Bros. games will not include any downloadable content. This is a shame, but there is some good news.

He also said that tripping, aka THE WORST THING EVER TO HAPPEN IN THE SMASH BROS UNIVERSE, has been removed. This is a huge blessing, as it nearly killed Brawl's competitive scene, and even casual gamers didn't really react kindly to it.

Looks like we won't be having to worry about that in the next games though.

Whew.

June 13th Screenshot

(Wii U Version)

After going a day without updating the "daily" image, the Smash Bros. website has now updated to include the image above.

It doesn't really show us anything that we didn't know previously though.

Masahiro Sakurai - Developer Direct

Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the Super Smash Bros. series, has now appeared on a Developer Direct, giving info about the game, particularly the new characters and moves.

It appears that Pit has two new moves, as I suspected.

All of my other speculations have been proven false by this video.

Mega Man works similarly to Snake - he has Smash Attacks that "feel" special.

I highly recommend watching it, as it contains some good info.

Finally, this confirms that we will be seeing a new screenshot every weekday on the website. You can also look at all of the images on Miiverse.

I'll be sure to post about them as they occur.

Wii Fit Trainer Weighs In!

Not much to talk about with this one. It's mostly just for cinematic purposes.

But 0:36 shows her doing push-ups, which leads me to believe in either custom movesets, as mentioned previously, or a Balance Board gimmick, as also mentioned previously.
0:42 is the real money shot, though, showing off her Final Smash, which appears to be a sideways version of Lucas's Final Smash from Brawl.

Her artwork, incidentally, is this:

Obviously, it's just artwork, and it can't be used to confirm anything, but isn't it interesting that she is depicted atop a Balance Board when no one else is?

Just saying.

And whew. That's a lot of info that we got today. Wasn't expecting quite that much. Can't wait to see what's next, regardless!

New Screenshots - Wii Fit Trainer

Some of the previously-revealed characters have had additional screenshots added to their pages in order to show off the newly-confirmed Wii Fit Trainer!

All screenshots are from the Wii U Version, so there is still no proof that the Wii Fit Trainer is even featured in the 3DS Version.

(Mario)

(Kirby)

(Bowser)

(Mega Man)

Mario and Mega Man's shots seem to indicate that Wii Fit Trainer will have a soccer ball attack and a Balance Board attack, respectively. Kirby's confirms that you can, in fact, fall in the hole that was shown on a previous screenshot. Maybe you could use it as a hiding spot or something.

Bowser's really doesn't tell us anything new.

Wii Fit Trainer Confirmed as a Playable Character!

Wii Fit Trainer (Wii Fit) - Newcomer

Wow. I sure wasn't expecting this! A new character confirmation within a DAY!? Wow, that's awesome.

Anyways, Wii Fit Trainer is in Smash Bros. now. Talk about a total curveball! I bet no one was expecting her of all people!

Check out her screenshots!

Wii U Version:

What do all of these shots have in common? The fact that she is never in the same pose twice.

Given how she (somehow) dodges Link's sword in the second shot, and the character's radically different poses, I'm speculating that maybe she's controlled by the Balance Board, and you can do whatever pose you want!

That's just a guess though. It wouldn't be the first time that there has been a "gimmicky" character in Smash. Look at Ice Climbers, Shiek, Pokémon Trainer, and Olimar for precedents.

Though I don't know whether or not Nintendo would make you go out and buy a separate accessory just for one character. That's the only bit of doubt in my mind.

But you know what the real selling point is? Like Villager, she has not been seen in any 3DS shots. If she is controlled by the Balance Board after all, it would have to be on the Wii U, leading me to believe that much like Villager, this character is exclusive to the Wii U Version.

Oh, and we get a new stage in the second and fourth shots.

The eighth looked like a new stage at first, but I'm pretty sure it's the same as the one in the second and fourth, with the background just changing over time.

Mega Man Joins the Battle!

0:07 - "New Challenger Approaching!" is how this begins. Maybe this means that he'll be unlockable? It would fit the trend with third parties being unlockable.
0:17 to 0:27 - BEST MUSIC EVER.
0:33 - The slide is back from Mega Man 3-8.
0:36 - A spin punch upwards? Maybe it's similar to Wario's Up+B?
0:38 - Neutral-B shots can apparently be charged. Once again, Mega Man 3-8.
0:42 - Wait what? Will characters have unique death sound effects? If so, that's pretty cool.
0:55 - I take it back. THIS is the best music ever.

The rest of the trailer lets us look at his repertoire of weapons, which includes:

Metal Blade
Crash Bomber
Leaf Shield
Hard Knuckle
Flame Sword
Slash Claw
Spark Shock
Super Arm
Flame Blast

Holy crap, that's a lot. Bear in mind that this is IN ADDITION TO using Rush for recovery, having a slide, a chargeable Mega Buster, and standard punches and kicks.

Obviously you can't have all of these moves mapped to a controller, cause there's only so many input options. Which leads me to believe one thing:

Customizable Movesets.

What if it's like Pokémon? Every character gets about a dozen moves, and each player picks four to use in each fight. (Though in Pokémon's case, each Pokémon really gets about fifty, but that's unrealistic for Smash.)

This could explain why we see so much stuff with these new arrivals, as well as Pit and DK's new moves.

All this is just speculation though. What do you think?

Oh, and at 1:30 we get him fighting the Yellow Devil, most likely as an Adventure Mode boss.

Here's his artwork, by the way. Though it doesn't tell us much more than we already knew.

Villager Comes to Town!

Things that stand out from the trailer:

0:37 - Poké Balls are back. Not that there was ever much doubt.
0:59 - A new Mario stage?
1:02 - Either this is another new stage, that scrolls much like Icicle Mountain from Melee and Rumble Falls from Brawl, or it's a level from an Adventure Mode-type thing.
1:17 - Yep. Pit got a new move.
1:22 - Another new stage? It's not Battlefield, that's for sure.
1:23 - That statue... Kid Icarus stage maybe?
1:25 - DK got a new move too.
1:28 - Zero Laser confirmed.
1:37 - Note that he wasn't seen at all in the 3DS section, only the Wii U section.
1:41 - Shovel attack? What button would this be? Or are there more than four special moves in this version?
1:44 - Yep. He can catch blaster shots. That's awesome.
1:47 - A tree-summoning axe attack? Huh? More than four special moves seem to be confirmed now.

And here's the artwork:

This shows him literally netting a Smash Ball. If the net is really in the game, and not just for cinematic purposes, that's even more evidence of multiple moves.

Also, hmm... wonder what his Final Smash will be.

Smash Bros Website - Initial Screenshots

(Wii U Version)

This is the screenshot that you will see when you enter the Smash Bros website. It shows Mario and Mega Man falling while performing air dodges, presumably. The background is notable though. It looks like a Fire Emblem stage or a Kid Icarus stage at first glance, but look at the logo on the flag. It's an original stage to the Smash Bros. series.

The other noteworthy thing about this picture is that the url ends in daily.jpg. It's entirely possible that this image will rotate every day and we'll get a new one. Can't wait to see what's in store for us tomorrow.

The next thing we can do is check out each of the so-far-confirmed characters.

All eleven of them. To see what they have in store for us.

Mario (Super Mario Bros.) - Previously featured in Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl

Wii U Version:

All right, so it's time for analysis. It looks like Mario's Smash Attacks are unchanged. Not surprising. Bowser's Side+B looks like it may be back to what it was in Melee, or it could be a Side Tilt. Mario also retains a Brawl Taunt. Villager appears to have boxing gloves for some reason. Possibly a new attack. And then there's the background. With the exception of the last screenshot, all of these appear to be on the same stage. The first screenshot has a flag in the corner, which I believe is the Mushroom Kingdom symbol, but I am not sure. I can't really make it out.

The last screenshot is a different stage. The speakers and the screen in the background make it look like Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2, so maybe this will be Pokémon Stadium 3? The thing that throws off this theory is the Smash Bros. banner in the back. Is it an original stage maybe?

Finally, Kirby's not flinching when Mario kicks him. I wonder why.

3DS Version:

This doesn't really show anything new beyond a few returning moves from previous games.

I personally don't care much for the art style of the 3DS version. I'd like to see it without outlines, if possible. But that could just be me.

Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong) - Previously featured in Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl

Wii U Version:

All right, that last screenshot is pretty funny. The Smash Bros. logo in the center screenshot seems to indicate that this is, in fact, an original stage, and not another Pokémon Stadium. We see a lot of DK's moves return, and he even sports a new move in the fourth screenshot, from the looks of it.

The shot with Pikachu and Kirby seems to have them all in the same space, leading me to believe that Footstool Jumping will return as a game mechanic from Brawl.

Oh, and Bowser's eyeballs look smaller for some reason. Weird.

3DS Version:

Looks like a Fire Emblem stage in the first shot, and a New Super Mario Bros. (or Mario 3D Land?) stage in the last one. As far as DK goes, there's just confirmation that old moves return. Not much else.

Link (The Legend of Zelda) - Previously featured in Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl

Wii U Version:

All of Link's old moves seem to return, including the chargeable Up+B that was only featured in Brawl. We also have more of Bowser's small eyes.

The last two screenshots also show off Pit's Neutral-B and Samus's Down+B, which appear to be unchanged.

Link seems to be sporting his look from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Can't say I'm a fan personally. Mostly due to the earring. But maybe he'll have the rest of his reincarnations as costume changes.

We get some good stuff here. Two new stages! The middle screenshot's stage is a Nintendogs stage, which looks really cool. The perspective makes it kinda hard to tell if that spade-cube thing is an item or just background, but I'm thinking it's the latter.

And in the final screenshot, we see Link's Spirit Tracks incarnation conducting a train stage. I bet this means that Toon Link won't be returning from Brawl.

However, with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds coming out soon, maybe we'll see the return of Young Link from Melee!

Samus (Metroid) - Previously featured in Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl

In Brawl, she could transform into Zero Suit Samus. Whether or not she retains this transformation or if Zamus has been cut from the roster remains to be seen.

Wii U Version:

Samus definitely wins the award for "most graphically improved" from Brawl.

Mega Man appears to have somehow dodged Samus's Side-Tilt (or is that her Up-Tilt?), without ducking. Unless that is how Mega Man ducks, we may be looking at a new dodging system.

We also get a look at Castle Wily, a Mega Man stage. Pretty cool.

The final screenshot is where it's at though. Samus has the power of a Smash Ball and is about to perform a Final Smash!

Based on this shot, as well as the trailer, it looks like it's the Zero Laser from Brawl, but we don't know yet whether or not the Zero Suit Samus transformation will be retained or not.

3DS Version:

These shots show off some more cool graphics. At first I thought that the first shot showed a Motion-Sensor Bomb item, but that's just Samus's Down+B, as shown by the third shot.

And is that a Zelda stage in the last shot?

Kirby (Kirby) - Previously featured in Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl

Wii U Version:

Smashville is a returning stage. Nothing else here.

But damn. That first screenshot. Ouch. That looks so painful for Mario.

Shame that we don't see any Kirby hats.

3DS Version:

Mario's Taunt is back, confirming that there are multiple taunts once again. Other than that, nothing new.

Fox (Starfox) - Previously featured in Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl

Wii U Version:

Just more info on things returning from previous installments. Though I do wonder what stage the next-to-last shot was taken on.

Also from that shot, with Rush being alone without Mega Man, it leads me to believe that ground usage will allow other characters to use him, similar to Sonic's Up+B from Brawl.

3DS Version:

So the Train Stage is like Big Blue from Melee, from the looks of it. You can fall off, but you have to catch up or you get left behind. Interesting.

Pikachu (Pokémon) - Previously featured in Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl

Wii U Version:

Pikachu is the last of the original 8 that we know will return (Yoshi is the only one left unconfirmed).

In the second shot, it appears that Pikachu is using Rollout, previously known by Jigglypuff in Smash.

With Jigglypuff not being too popular these days, will we see her dropped in favor of a new Pokémon? Perhaps with Pikachu taking some of her old moves? We'll have to see.

Pikachu does appear to have gained some weight since Brawl, leading to a larger hitbox. Hopefully that won't impact its incredible speed and jumping abilities though.

I also can't seem to recognize the move from the next-to-last shot. It looks like a Side+B, but pointed upwards. Odd.

And as for that last shot, I'm clueless. Maybe it was hit by a sleep attack (like Jigglypuff's Up+B)? I don't know how Pikachu would end up in that position.

3DS Version:

Nothing new here, but we see that odd pose again.

Bowser (Super Mario Bros.) - Previously featured in Melee and Brawl

Note that his Japanese name, along with the image urls, refer to him as Koopa. I will be using Bowser though, since this is not a Japanese blog.

Wii U Version:

We get a chance to see some of Villager's moves, with the plant dive and what appears to be an air dodge similar to that of Mario's.

3DS Version:

Nothing new here. Just returning moves. Bowser's eyes seem to be smaller in everyone else's screenshots, but not his own. Weird.

Pit (Kid Icarus) - Previously featured in Brawl

Wii U Version:

Is that a new move in the first screenshot?

Looks like it, and it appears to be pretty powerful.

Or maybe he's using his Mirror Shield to reflect an attack of Mega Man's, which we don't know.

So many possibilities.

3DS Version:

The second screenshot seems to confirm that Pit has a new move, likely the one from the Wii U shot.

What could it be though?

And that concludes the profiles on veteran fighters. That is, ones returning from previous Smash installments.

What about newcomers? Well...

Villager (Animal Crossing) - Newcomer

The name is known as Murabito in the Japanese Version, but here, we shall call him Villager.

Wii U Version:

Villager looks to be an interesting character, sporting gear from all across the Animal Crossing universe.

A Slingshot looks to be the standard projectile, probably as a Side+B.

The plant and the bowling ball depict the Villager in the same pose, so I'm guessing it's a random based attack, probably a Neutral-B, that summons something in a random sense, similarly to Dedede's Side+B being random.

The Balloon Fighter hat appears to be a recovery Up+B.

The dynamite appears to be a Down+B, similar to a Cracker Launcher, or maybe like Pikachu's Down+B.

The boxing gloves appear to be for Smash Attacks and Tilts.

Finally, we see Villager catch one of Samus's missiles. Is it possible to intercept Samus's Side+B now? Is it exclusive to Villager or can all characters do it? Or is it just to set up a good shot and the Villager will be hit a few seconds later?

I'm thinking it's the last one, but I could be wrong.

Also note that as a newcomer, Villager also got a trailer to himself, and some promotional artwork. I'll be covering these in a separate post though.

Sadly, Villager does not have any 3DS screenshots. As he wasn't shown in anyone else's 3DS shots, is it possible that he'll be Wii U exclusive?

Mega Man (Mega Man) - Newcomer

The character is known as Rockman in the Japanese Version.

Wii U Version:

Firing a standard shot appears to be a move, likely a Neutral+B.

We also see the Leaf Shield (Side+B, most likely) and the Metal Blades (Down+B?).

I'll talk more about Mega Man's weapons arsenal in the post about his trailer.

Oh, and now I'm 99.99% sure that Rush will be his Up+B, and perform similarly to Sonic's Up+B from Brawl.

3DS Version:

I do have to wonder what stage that first shot is taken on. Not that it matters too much.
